Reduce Discard Rates

In the past, platelet concentrates have often had to be discarded, once they exceed the typical storage limitation of five days. Platelets treated with the INTERCEPT™ Blood System for platelets, however, may be stored for up to seven days with facilitated inventory management and reduced expirations. Studies have shown a reduction in discard rates when using INTERCEPT (Moeremans K, Transfus Med 2006;16:17–30).
