Eliminate Bacterial Screening

By inactivating a variety of bacteria in platelet components (generally about 6 logs of organisms, and 3.6 and 4.5 logs for the most resistant species tested, B. cereus [including spores] and P. aeruginosa), the INTERCEPT™ Blood System can replace the bacterial screening of platelet components. False-positive bacterial testing results affecting discards and false-negative results exposing patients to a risk of sepsis can be avoided.
